Hello, I’m Louise, founder of STEPtherapeutic.

I’m an SEMH consultant and children’s therapist, passionate about supporting children, young people, families and schools to better understand emotional needs, build confidence and create positive change.

I have worked within the field of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) for over 20 years, including working for Local Authorities and in government roles. Throughout my career, I have specialised in supporting children with SEMH needs and working alongside schools, families and professionals to understand what sits behind behaviour and emotional difficulties.

I am qualified in Play Therapy, CBT and Talk Therapy, and I am also a certified Parent Coach. These different areas of experience allow me to take a flexible and holistic approach, recognising that every person is different and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to emotional wellbeing.

Parenting can feel overwhelming, especially when your child is experiencing big emotions, challenging behaviour or difficulties with regulation.

As a Parent Coach, I work alongside parents to build confidence, understanding and practical strategies that can make everyday life feel more manageable.

Together, we can explore what may be behind your child’s behaviour, strengthen connection and communication, and develop approaches that support your child’s emotional wellbeing while also looking after your own wellbeing as a parent.

My aim is not to tell you how to parent — it’s to empower you to understand your child, trust your instincts and feel more confident in your parenting.
